Nagelsmann Names Baumann as Germany’s Starting Goalkeeper for World Cup

Julian Nagelsmann has confirmed that Hoffenheim captain Oliver Baumann will be Germany’s first-choice goalkeeper for the upcoming World Cup, though Alexander Nübel will start in Monday’s friendly against Ghana.

Neuer has been Germany’s primary goalkeeper in each of the last four World Cups and also held the position under Nagelsmann during Euro 2024. However, Baumann will now take over as the team’s number one for the tournament.
