Kompany Expresses Full Confidence in Bayern Staff Ahead of Touchline Suspension
📅 2026-04-27Vincent Kompany has expressed "100% confidence" in his Bayern Munich support staff as he prepares to serve a touchline suspension during the Champions League semi-final first leg against Paris Saint-Germain.
Kompany will be absent from the dugout for Tuesday’s match at the Parc des Princes after accumulating three yellow cards in the competition this season. His assistant, Aaron Danks, will assume touchline duties.
"Danksy has plenty of experience, having been on the touchline for a while in England," Kompany said. "I’ve got 100% confidence in the staff and everyone else."
Kompany has won both of his previous Champions League encounters against PSG, securing a 1-0 victory in November 2024 and a 2-1 win in November 2025. A third victory would make him the manager with the most wins against Luis Enrique in the competition.
Bayern’s star striker Harry Kane acknowledged Kompany’s absence, stating, "We’ll miss him on the touchline. He’s our boss, a coach who’d love to be out there with us." Kane has scored 12 goals this season, the most by an English player in a single European Cup or Champions League campaign.
Kane has found the net in each of his last four knockout stage appearances and could match Robert Lewandowski’s club record of scoring in five consecutive Champions League matches, set between 2016 and 2018.
Bayern are on a five-game winning streak against PSG in the Champions League, including a 2-1 victory last November. This marks the longest winning run any team has achieved against PSG in major European competition.
