Fabregas Not Rushing Premier League Return Despite Interest from Chelsea, Arsenal

📅 2026-05-04

Cesc Fabregas has stated he is in no hurry to take a coaching role in the Premier League, citing advice from former mentor Jose Mourinho. The Spaniard is currently focused on his work with Como, who sit fifth in Serie A, three points adrift of the Champions League places with three matches remaining. Their position could shift to sixth if Roma defeats Fiorentina on Monday.

Since guiding Como to promotion, Fabregas has overseen 30 wins, 21 draws, and 22 losses in 73 Serie A matches, with his team scoring 108 goals during that span. This season, they have conceded the fewest goals in the league (28) in the 2025-26 campaign.

Fabregas’ success has reportedly attracted interest from Premier League clubs, including Chelsea, who are without a manager and have been linked with their former player. Speculation has also emerged about a potential future role at Arsenal, another of his former clubs.

Despite his admiration for the Premier League, Fabregas emphasized he is not rushing a return, recalling advice from Mourinho during their time together at Chelsea. "The Premier League is the best league in the world," Fabregas told *Telegraph Sport*. "I’ve always been very clear about it. I felt it as a player, I feel it as a coach, as a fan."

He added, "Mourinho told me one day, 'I still have 30 years to work.' So I could be here for 10 years, and you can still go to the Premier League in 12, 15 years. Football is so unpredictable; it changes in one second. One day, you are the best. The day after, you are the worst. So let’s enjoy the moment. I like to enjoy the moment. It’s beautiful what we are living here. Let’s see what the future holds."
