Bayern Munich Eye Anthony Gordon Amid Liverpool Competition

📅 2026-04-26

Bayern Munich are interested in signing Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United this summer but face potential competition from Liverpool, as reported by Bild journalist Christian Falk.

Falk stated on his platform, CFBayernInsider, that Gordon is a top target for Bayern, with discussions now progressing to financial terms. He noted that Gordon has shown openness to a Bundesliga move, possibly influenced by Harry Kane’s presence. English players rarely transition to Germany’s top league, making the potential transfer notable.

However, Newcastle’s valuation of Gordon could complicate Bayern’s pursuit. Initial reports suggested a fee of €80 million (£69.3 million), while The Times now estimates it closer to €75 million (£65 million). Falk believes this price may be too high for Bayern, though the club-friendly terms could improve if Gordon pushes exclusively for a move to Munich.

Bayern’s current attacking options, including Luis Diaz, Harry Kane, Michael Olise, and Jamal Musiala, provide depth in positions Gordon could fill, making a high-cost acquisition less appealing. Additionally, Gordon’s past ties to Liverpool pose a challenge, as the Premier League club has greater financial flexibility.

Falk emphasized that if Liverpool outbids Bayern, Newcastle would likely prioritize the higher offer, complicating the German club’s efforts to secure the winger.
